Fed Chairman Powell on the television show “60 Minutes” stated that the Fed will keep interest rates suppressed until the economy gains full employment, which will take some time. This seems to have resonated with the markets as the 1.67% yield on the 10 year US treasury is still operating in last week’s trading range. On the horizon, we will be looking for signs of inflation which may put pressure on rates to rise.
